The government has signalled eminent economist Shahid Kardar 'go ahead' to take over the central bank as its governor.
Chief Spokesman of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Syed Wasimuddin confirmed that the notification has been issued in this regard and the new governor (Shahid Kardar) has formally joined the office. He has been appointed for three years.
Shahid Kardar was named as the governor SBP few weeks back when the government had started looking for a top economic manager as the acting governor SBP Yaseen Anwar's term was about to over.
