FBR extends returns filing date till Oct 30th

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the tax returns filing date till October 30th, said an official statement issued here Wednesday.
The spokesman of the top revenue collection department, Israr Rauf said that the decision of extending of tax returns filing date was taken to facilitate the taxpayers who have been directly or indirectly affected by the worst floods that hit the country recently.
"Pakistan Tax Bar Association has requested the FBR to extend the date as the taxpayers were facing difficulties after floods that had impacted adversely the economic condition of the business community in general and taxpayers in particular," he elaborated.

Gold touches another historic record

Gold broke all previous records and reached another level of Rs43,725 per tola amid hefty buying, economic woes and depreciating rupee, traders said Wednesday.
They said that 10-gram yellow metal has become costlier by Rs278 to Rs37478, while a tola (11.6grams) prices have incraesed by Rs325 and now tagged at Rs43,725.
The international gold market has also witnessed hefty buying as the investors believe that slowdown in economies could affect their capitals and gold is the best available option to go for.
"Consistently rising international gold and depreciating rupee are behind skyrocketing domestic gold," said President Sindh Saraf Jewelers Association, Haji Haroon Rashid Chand. 

DAP draft rate up by Rs50 per bag

Fertilizer companies have sent shockwaves across the flood-affected farmers of the country when they raised Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) draft rate by Rs50 per bag.
Dealers said that the companies have jacked up DAP prices by Rs50 and it is now being sold to the dealers at the rate of Rs2,656 a sack.
Farmers representative bodies have strongly condemned the recent hike in the DAP prices, saying that this hike would badly hit the flood-affected farmers.

NSS to launch short-term investment certificate

National Savings Scheme (NSS) plans to launch a short-term investment certificate later this month, sources in the Ministry of Finance told Pakistan Business Watch Saturday.
“The short-term investment certificates would be of 3-month, 6-month and one year and the investors would get better returns from them,” they informed.  
They said that the short-term investment certificate is being launched with an aim to magnetize small investments and facilitate the people of far-flung areas of the country.
“With this investment certificate, investors of all over the country specially of the Baluchistan and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhuwa would get a platform to invest their small money,” they elaborated.
